Help is here!!!

What I believe is that the Patriots could not have won the war without the help of foreign allies. After the battle of Saratoga in October 17, 1777 Foreigners were more willing to help the Americans because the Americans had better chance of winning the war. If the Spanish had not sent Bernado de Galvez to help the Americans in the West the Americans would have lost. Bernado de Galvez started attacking key British forts near the Mississippi river and Florida, giving the British a small chance of attacking the American colonies from the West or the South. The Americans were running low on supplies during the American Revolution, but during the times of low supply the French and Spanish were secretly helping the colonies. For example, Marquis de Lafayette gave around $200,000 of his own money to support the Revolution. Lafayette also fought with the American side by side during the Revolution even though he lacked military skills and didn’t know much English. Later in May 1778 the congress approved an alliance with France and so the Colonies got a higher chance of getting more supplies form France. Other individuals whose countries had nothing to do with the war even came to help. Two polish officers came to help the Americans Tadeusz Kosciuszko, taught basic engineering skills and Kazimierz Polaski taught cavalry units. Another Prussian officer helped train the Continental Army of militias to a well-trained group of soldiers. Another Scottish man named John Paul Jones helped the Americans at Sea by destroying key British ships. The French man Comte de Rochambeau brought a small army with him to help Washington fight the British. Another French officer Comte de Grasse brought a French fleet to blockade Chesapeake Bay. Without these important foreign officers the colonists wouldn’t know basic military skills giving them a slim chance of winning.

We are Free!!!

(From the view of Thomas Paine)

I am happy that finally that the answer to our problem with Great Britain has come to an end. I am finally free and have liberty, there is no-one to say I am not free! I wrote my pamphlet when I was 38 because I was sick of knowing that my brethren still had not seen the answer to our problems with Great Britain. And now they have written and said it out loud the answer I gave to the colonies, we are free people, we have the right to be happy, and have life. King George III has violated his rights of us colonists, he has passed laws that interfere with our own government and are damaging our economy. The king should protect his people but he has not so it is the right of us colonists needing to break away from Great Britain. I salute Thomas Jefferson of writing the Declaration of Independence. Well Done!!! We are now independent from Great Britain and free people.

Declaration of Rights

Declaration of Independence The Congress deciding on what should be included in the Declaration of Independence, and also ratifying it. It connects to our class because this shows the colonists creating it.

Observer: Advice Wanted

Dear Dr. Warren,

I’ve had a problem for a few days. My hand has now become a cripple. While I was working trying to melt silver, I burnt my hand on the furnace and got liquid silver all over my hand. We got a midwife to help get a cure for my injury. The midwife put my hand was in a poultice and when she later took of the poultice we found out that my right hand’s thumb and palm were now one. Before the burn I used to be one of most revered silversmith apprentice in Boston but now I have one of the most degraded and pitied person in Boston. I have become from being an almost master silversmith to a house maid cleaning the house and having to here insults about me by Mrs. Lapham, my master’s daughter-in-law, and now I’m also I’m thought of as some weird devil because of my hand. Please do you have any idea how to get my life started in a new direction and please do you know anything that might make my hand normal, and bring back the revered person I was before the accident. I was proud person before the accident and this accident has taught me a lesson, I promise that form now on I shall never ever be a proud man ever again. Please can you help me!!!!

Observer: Advice Response

Dear Johnny,

I know how you feel. I have had many patients who have told about what has happened of them being crippled. What my advice is stop listening to Mrs. Lapham and find a way to apprentice to another master try paper selling or try becoming a cabin boy on a ship, I hear that life on the sea is fun. Getting a good master will be the beginning of finding your new life trust me. Can I ask you why did you go to the midwife for help? Those midwives don’t know any thing about modern techniques on how to heal wounds. By the symptoms you are telling me I can tell that the thing that is crippling you can be removed. It is not even a costly operation; a tavern owner could do it. If you want it done professionally with no fever or side effects come to me. But just in case here are the steps. First make somebody harness you, you might scream. Next make a deep incision from the top of your to the back of your hand on the are where there should be gap between your palm and thumb. After making the incision quickly put you palm and thumb in two separate poultices. Change the poultice every day. Once you have stopped bleeding take the poultice off. Your now should be now no more crippled, you might have a few problem toning your thumb in working but keep moving it and it will work perfectly. Here is my advice now it is your choice to pick which path you want to take.
